Medical Home Chapter Champions Program on Asthma (MHCCPA) |
The second phase of the AAP’s Comprehensive Asthma Program (CAP) is underway!
Through the support of the Merck Childhood Asthma Network, Inc. MHCCPA Goals
- Increase access to a medical home for all children and youth, especially those with health disparities;
- Facilitate pediatric practices’ adoption and implementation of the NHLBI guidelines within the context of a medical home; and

As part of the educational comonent of the MHCCPA, 9 Visiting Professorship (VP) Programs were awarded during the summer of 2011. The MHCCPA VP Program provided an opportunity for chapter champions to work with their repsective chapters to request a visiting professor to educate chapter members and others on aspects of medical home implementation and optimal asthma care — via a medical home — as outlined in the NHLBI asthma guidelines. The MHCCPA VP program will be providing support for faculty travel expenses and honoraria throughout the end of 2011 to those chapters who were awarded.
Congratulations to the following AAP Chapters for receiving a VP award: Alabama, Kansas, Kentucky, New York 1, New York 2, Ohio, Oregon, Texas and Wisconsin. For more information on each VP program, download the VP profile below or contact Suzi Montasir, MPH, Program Manager at 847/434-4311 or fill out the Contact Us form.
