NEW Action Items

  1. Lauri - Send the critical questions out to the AAP Council on Children with Disabilities this week to pilot the questions and review the modules.  We will tweak the questions if necessary after reviewing the responses.   - COMPLETED

  2.  Lauri - request list of NCE exhibitors

  3. Chuck  - connect with UptoDate to look at policy and approach to how you guide authors, structure the review process.

  4. Chuck/Al - connect with Chuck Onufer (cnonuger@uic.edu) on geo mapping and Region 4 Collaborative and connect with AAP Newborn Screening Contact: Anne Gamiak (agramiak@aap.org)

  5. Kathy  - send work on other module topics - COMPLETED
    Vision | Hearing | Growth
Please note that the Vision and Hearing  modules require navigating to subpages.  When  you are finished reading a subpage you will have to move to another subpage by a two-step process as follows:

    - On the left hand side of the page - Click on 'Vision' (or 'Hearing')
    - Scroll on the page to the section you would like to view next and click on that section

Sorry about this complication. We will be working to correct this. The Growth Module was short enough to be able to link within a single page. Looking forward to your feedback! - Kathy

V. Action Steps

  1. Chuck and Al will send questions to the group about the module format and content to send out for feedback

Update: Questions sent to AAP Council on Children with Disabilities June 29, 2006, to pilot the questions and review the modules.  We will tweak the questions if necessary after reviewing the responses.

Does it meet your users needs?
    How would you change it?
How well would that meet the needs of families?
Could you easily scan through the site to find useful information?
Can you find some recommended screening tools for social-emotional screening?
    Can you find (resource)?

Note: When the request goes out to multiple groups, Al and Lauri will split up consolidating of responses.

  2. Lauri to investigate if we can set up a user-testing booth at NCE

    Update:
$1,500 fee for a 10x10 booth. Can look at asking a current exhibitor (AAP Chapter or Children's Hospital) to borrow some of their space

Plan: Lauri to get list of exhibitors to see who we can request some space from. If we get space, we can send out a sign up sheet to the entire project to see who will be attending the conference and able to staff the booth.

  3. Lauri to identify AAP committees and sections to review the site

Completed: I highlighted some of the groups I thought would be good reviewers on our National Council, Section, Committee List Adobe

  4. Lauri to get an update on the ACT sheets for newborn metabolic conditions

    Update:
the newborn screening ACT sheets and algorithms are now live on the American College of Medical Genetics (ACMG) by clicking here.  The AAP is developing a program for pediatricians about their role in screening and these materials have a significant part in that program. ACMG is also sending out a utility survey about these materials.  A good number of states are planning to attach these materials to screen-positive results that go out of their newborn screening labs and we are asking that they send the survey for the first 2 months or so.  This will provide them with some feedback as to how well the materials work for primary care professionals.  Later this year, they will share with you any comments and any plans that might arise to edit these.

They are beginning a new batch of ACT sheets and algorithms for the non-S-allele associated hemoglobinopathies and expect to develop additional new materials as new conditions are added to newborn screening panels.

  5. GROUP to review 1-2 modules and imagine how that would meet the needs of your users – give feedback to improve the format and content

Update: Comments Word - from Kate reviewing the ADHD and Down Syndrome modules

  6. GROUP to send any known editorial guidelines for diagnosis modules/standards of care to Lauri
