History of the Project
In September 2005 states attending the Champions for Progress Meeting in Utah were invited by the Utah Department of Health and Utah MedHome Portal web developers to engage in a National Medical Home Web-Based Information Resource Meeeting. Topics ranged from evaluating web content, user satisfaction, ease of navigation, budget and funding, editorial processes, and general diesing and technical support.

As a result of that meeting, participants and facilitators chose to develop an Action Plan to continue the conversation on how to enhance current web sites for CYSHCN and their families as well as consolidate effort and create a National Collaborative Project. Participants represent both well establised web sites as well as states in the process of development, as well as sites with high and low technical support. For additional information visit the Medical Home Web Meeting page.

Here is a brief summary of the ACTION Plan following the meeting:

  1. Develop an Umbrella Task Force and small workgroups and utilize strengths of the organization
  2. Set up a conference call with the task force to set the agenda for a larger conference call - max of 4 persons. During the call, identify 3 priority areas and goals on what we want to accomplish. Each person will select an area of interest and chair a workgroup.
Time line: 2-3 months with respect to a 1-2 hour conference call
  3. Pull together a coalition and present a white paper back to them and see if they can provide any funding. It needs to be a multi state collaborative effort. Laura McGuinn and Chuck Norlin would co author the paper.

Since the September 2005 Meeting in Utah, we have established a web task force to put together some models for collaboration and have prioritized 3 focus areas for moving this forward. Those focus areas have been developed into core workgroups, which are:
1: Local Resource/Services Information and Referral WebInformation
2: Just in Time Information / Diagnosis Module Development
3: Shared Access to Information (how to share content with each other's sites and how to share a master site with other states/locales)
