Care Notebook Online Tour
Welcome to the Care Notebook Online Tour!
The Care Notebook online tour is designed to help
users learn more about the features and options for
creating a personalized care notebook that can be
used to document important information about your
child's health care needs and services. Each interactive
session provides step-by-step instructions and easy
to follow guidelines for reviewing the available forms
and selecting and saving them to create your own care
notebook. The content in each session builds on learning
from previous sessions and we recommend starting with
Part 1 the first time you take the tour.
WHAT DO I NEED? The online tour uses Adobe Flash.
Newer browsers come with built-in support for Flash;
older browsers sometimes require a plug-in that can
be downloaded at no cost from the Adobe
Flash Player site.
WHAT IF MY COMPUTER DOESN'T HAVE SPEAKERS? If your
computer doesn't have the ability to play audio, you
can still take the tour by following along using the
written transcript for each session.

5: Saving your Child's Care Notebook to a Portable
File Storage Device, such as a Flash Drive
Learn how you can create a folder to
hold all of the files that you select for beginning
your child's care notebook and how to copy files from
this web site to a portable file storage device, such
as a flash drive, connected to your computer's USB
port.
The issue of data and information security remains
very important with flash drives being used in various
environments, secured or otherwise. The use of biometrics
and data encryption is becoming the norm for increased
data security.
Some flash drives feature encryption of the data
stored on them. This prevents an unauthorized person
from accessing the data stored on it. However, these
forms of data protection security involve an increased
risk of loss of access to the data by the legitimate
owner/user.
For those flash drives that do not come with encryption
software, free encryption software is available through
various companies. You can find out more about the
available free encryption software by searching the
Internet using the keywords "free flash drive
encryption software".

Part 6: Using the
Zip File Feature to Download all of the Files within
a Section
Learn how to use the Download Zip option to copy all
of the forms, within an entire section of the Care
Notebook web site, onto your computer. An advantage
to downloading the zip file is that you can have copies
of all of the forms found in that section of the Care
Notebook. This will allow you to view the files and
select the forms that you want for your own care notebook
without having to have an internet connection.
